WWLBI wins national EHI Award!
Last week WWLBI received the award for Excellence in Healthcare Business Analytics at the EHI Awards.
The award acknowledges WWL’s outstanding work on the development of two new applications (apps) that have helped improve quality of service and performance by reducing levels of variation. Each app represents an area of expertise; Theatres and Clinical Variation. The Theatre app collects data from around the Trust to aid in the improvement of the safety and efficiency of our surgical theatres and the Clinical Variation app pinpoints variations in patient care between consultants.
Since its introduction in January, the Theatre app has already increased efficiency and has made significant strides in helping to improve patient safety and experience. Duncan Armfield, Deputy Director of Operations and Performance commented that, “It was essential inefficiencies were highlighted and easily understood to improve theatre effectiveness. Since the apps introduction, patient experience has improved by reducing cancellations and for staff by keeping the day within its planned time schedules and reducing over runs, morale has spiralled up.”
The apps have been designed for use across Trust departments and are just as helpful to a Nurse or Consultant as they are for an Analyst or Performance Manager. They are easy to use and can allow the user to start with basic information and then drill down into more detail as needed while presenting it in a visual, easy to read format.
“I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in these two projects. These apps are already the envy of other organisations and winning this national award is great recognition of everyone’s hard work.” said Mark Singleton, Head of Business Intelligence. “These projects are yet another example of what we can achieve, working with a clear and shared vision as multidisciplinary ‘virtual’ teams, clinical or not.”
The EHI Awards bring together over 700 of the UK's top IT and clinical professionals from the NHS along with supplier companies hosting their customers. The awards recognise the progressive IT and informatics work of teams in the NHS and private healthcare services. The evening was hosted by Ruby Wax OBE and was held on 29 September at the Lancaster Hotel in London.
